What is Elis?
Athletes who wanted to participate in the Ancient Olympic Games had to meet certain standards of which, one of the most important, was to have trained properly during a period immediately preceding the event, which spanned months. As a final part of their preparation, just the month before the Olympics, all athletes were concentrated in the city of Elis, near Olympia, under the supervision of the Hellanodikai who would be the judges in the competitions. These judges, in addition to supervising the Games and the preparation of the athletes, in a way advised and guided them.
Like the athletes, the Hellanodikai had to surpass a period of instruction of 10 months before being able to exercise its functions and it is this concept that we pretend to be the main objective of the Elis Project, the creation of Elite Technicians who are able to dominate the specific knowledge needed to teach and disseminate our sport in all areas, for all levels of play, for all ages, with different methodologies, researching and analyzing diverse sources, and through multiple resources and formats of knowledge transfer.
Elis Project is, therefore, an initiative that will provide resources and training activities designed to promote and sustain the development of padel around the world.
By the way, our logo aims to reflect these concepts.
Our origins
Elis Project is born from the sum of the experiences of a group of Technicians with many years of work in different fields and who have assumed all kinds of technical and management responsibilities. Its sports collection includes experiences as professional players, monitors, coaches, club and sports brands managers. All this has allowed us to have a clear vision of the training needs in our field.
After years of putting the original ideas in order, the Elis Project begins in 2016, when padel continues to grow in the countries in which it is settled, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, etc. and, on the other hand, an important activity is initiated in some others in which a phenomenon similar to the one that already lived in Argentina and Spain, the sudden and spectacular development of padel can perfectly well occur. In both cases, training must be fundamental. In the first to consolidate padel as a sport and in the second to overcome the initial growth problems and ensure adequate growth.
Our approach
Education
In all the processes of development of a sport the figure of the coach has had and will continue to have, a fundamental value for it can not depend on the effort, knowledge, criteria or resources of a single person. We need structures that help reach the maximum objectives.
But in this double performance -individual and collective-, we understand that the training of coaches will continue to be essential. And it is common sense to recognize that, in any case, a structure responsible for the development of a sport must be made up of people who have mastery over it, even to be able to adapt to the padel knowledge of other sciences.
Simplifying the main focus of Project Elis is as follows:
Although it is known that padel is an excellent product, pleasant to practice, physically advisable, social and in great demand, it is no less true that it requires commercials that know how to sell in the best possible way. Well, those commercials are padel coaches, and therefore the more varied and varied their knowledge and training continues, the better they will comply with this, THEIR MOST IMPORTANT task.
Therefore, it is concluded that Training is one of the fundamental pillars, and therefore essential so that our sport grows and consolidates with the speed that we all desire.
Philosophy and aims
In the Elis Project, we firmly believe that if a balanced and well-developed growth of any sport is desired, its coaches should be provided with a Continuing Sports Training and that this should be a top priority objective.
Ignoring this means to face a series of inconveniences and difficulties of various kinds, which in many cases end up being erroneously attributed to other factors, such as the lack of economic resources, to set an example. And while the reality is usually complex, the lack of adequate training will in all likelihood be among the causes of most failures. The good news would be that, on the contrary, a correct Continuing Education will always be an important step in achieving success.
The Elis Project aims, with this vision, to carry out some tasks that will cover different aspects of the process:
- Research
- Specific contents creation
- Publishing (blogs, courses, teaching programs)
The Elis project is also a project open to the participation of all those whose knowledge means an essential contribution to their sport and, logically, wish to share them through this channel. This cooperative vision also intends to give an opportunity to all technicians who want to complement their professional activities as field trainers, by taking advantage of some of the formats proposed in the Elis Project.
Finally, Elis Project is designed to disseminate content in two clearly defined formats, taking advantage of the undeniable contribution that new technologies already provide to the educational field:
- Online Activities
- Blended activities (Onsite and Online)
Our logo
The olive
If the city of Elis is important because there, under the control of the best technicians, the preparation of the athletes for the Games of Antiquity was completed, we must agree that the olive tree is then the symbol of success.
The current medals were in Olympia bouquets of the olive tree. Surely because that tree and its fruit were the primary support of many peoples, as is the case today.
That is why the symbol of Elis is an olive, whose stem and leaf represent, in addition, a bird raising its flight.
The initial letter 'E'
The letter "E" is, at the same time, an arrow pointing downward, as opposed to the bird represented by the stem and leaf of the olive, suggesting the ascending path between our origin and the future we desire.
Typography
The search for the roots of the organized sport, in this case in the ancient Greek civilization, is intended to be represented in typography.
Our proposal
New technologies have imposed a change in different paradigms related to training. And not only do they continue to do so, but this progress is so inexorable and rapid that it even generates some uncertainty as to what, for example, the tools and methods of sports teaching - and other fields - will be even in the immediate future. To this day, using a manual of basic Padel strokes could be seen as outdated, especially if it is based on analytical progressions.
However, Elis Project is not designed to discard knowledge that has proven valuable, but to adapt it or, in the worst case, to keep it in the knowledge database of our sport.
Elis Project, with the use of technological resources, pursues two objectives:
- to use these tools as a fundamental mechanism of transfer of knowledge, as a counterpart of the traditional concept that requires as a requirement the participation in the field of sports training; and
- to know, experiment and adapt all reasonable technological resources to fulfil our training objective in the most efficient way possible.
Thus, Elis Project will have this website that will be, at the same time, the platform that will allow, on the one hand, to complement the blended training activities and, alternatively, to offer others that will be developed entirely online.
Training Offer
Elis Project courses will be oriented to meet the needs of three clearly differentiated areas:
- entities, such as clubs, companies, federations or the like that desire specific padel training, either for their own teams or for any particular training service (more info);
- any coach, through different established itineraries or continuous training activities (more info);
- players, at any level, that can be targeted to different training activities specially oriented and designed to improve the level and knowledge of the end user of our sport (more info).
Official & unofficial education
As we have already indicated, Project Elis aims to contribute to the training of excellent padel coaches and also includes its willingness to help the Institutions or any other entity that wishes to, fulfil the educational objectives that have been marked as well as offer training to the players themselves. But in relation to the training of coaches, there is a particularly important issue that we want to mention: needed requirements to be able to issue official degrees of Padel Coaches.
Naturally, these requirements depend on what is established in the sports legislation of the country in question in relation to the sport of Padel.
Spain has been the first country to formally consider specific education in padel. By means of different decrees- and the respective orders that regulated them - the path to follow was defined to obtain the corresponding Degrees. All the information in this regard can be found in the section on Sports Education of the Higher Sports Council.
In summary, it is important to know that padel is located in Spain within the so-called transitory period, which means that it remains waiting for a specific Royal Decree for this modality to completely regulate its official training itineraries, although meanwhile formulas have been enabled that allow the convocation of courses where degrees with academic validity can be obtained.
The courses that Project Elis organizes in Spain are intended to be the best offered in the market, but they will only have official status, and as a consequence academic validity, those that are carried out in collaboration with any Federation or competent body in the field of sports of the Autonomous Communities.
Project Elis, therefore, aims to contribute to the international development of padel by offering a high-quality training offer, but assuming that in different countries there may be rules governing official training, which must be respected, and we will be the first to contribute to this, without that means that it is waived that in all cases the Project Elis Courses are the best offer among the possible ones.
Organisations and clubs
Whether on a regular or timely basis, Project Elis can provide specific padel training services, tailored to the needs of federations, clubs, companies, sports brands or any other entity with similar characteristics.
Coaches
Project Elis provides Padel coaches with a series of training itineraries that can be supplemented by Continuous Training activities that are regularly updated.
The itineraries have been established taking into account different approaches to the different tasks that a padel coach can develop.
The format of courses
The 8 courses belonging to the 4 training paths are taught through blended education, with the following format, divided into 3 phases:
I - Preliminary Stage: it is developed through the online platform of Project Elis, and is generally information that is advanced to coaches for study or early notification, which may also include activities such as control questions, forums doubts and initial contact, transfer of data or references to the teaching team, etc.
II - On-site Stage: this is the part in which the main contents - theoretical or practical - are given at the course's headquarters, in direct interaction with the teaching team.
III - Final Stage: will normally deal with activities entrusted to technicians as part of their training; will be practical classes, research, or other similar actions that promote the increase of the specific training of technicians, both individually and as a group.
Continuous Training
Project Elis assumes that the specific contents generally in sports and particularly in padel, are living concepts and that therefore they evolve. In addition, we understand that the work of the padel coach should cover a diversity of topics, with more or less specificity and interest according to each coach and that therefore can not include all of them in the basic courses.
That is why Continuous Training will be very important in our training offer.
Coaches education
The following graphic represents the different educational options that Project Elis contemplates for padel coaches.

Players
Project Elis has ideal resources for padel players looking to improve their game.
For many years, the members of our team have worked on-court and in many other areas of our sport related to training, at all levels of play.
All this accumulated experience is the basis on which you can create a significant number of resources, methodologies, exercises, corrective techniques and, ultimately, proven knowledge to help improve the game of those who seek to improve their skills, whatever their level.
At the same time, our specialization in coaches training in recent years has forced us to familiarize ourselves with new technologies and, consequently, with the new teaching methodologies that derive from them. And having acquired a good command of them we ask ourselves: why not use these new ways of transmitting knowledge, which are ideal for coaches training, with the end users of our sport also?
The result has been the development of a specific work to adapt our resources in such a way that they can be taught through our online platform, and be used by anyone who wants to progress as a player.
Project Elis is aware that nothing will replace a good face-to-face class with a good technician, always advisable. But everything evolves quickly and Project Elis wants to be the first to adapt, offering today a complement to the teaching of sport in person, which will undoubtedly be a regular offer in a short time.
